I get a window popping up now and then out of nowhere called 'parent process browser console'.

How can I stop this? I've tried looking at the settings of the window (top right corner), but there is no option to stop it from staying active.

The shortcut to open the console is "Ctrl+Shift+J", so make sure that you do not accidentally hold the Shift key.

It opens by itself without me using Ctrl+Shift+J. Never used to happen before. Started about a month ago.

Maybe this is a problem with an extension.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
