Thunderbird new messages no longer bolded

Hello, I have used Thunderbird for years and have never changed any settings. The last couple of months, new messages I receive in my inbox are no longer bolded. They always were before. I don't know which version of Thunderbird I am using but update everything regularly. I have searched for the answer online but any of those suggestions under settings or options I try make no difference. I use a Windows 10 PC desktop. Thank you

Unchecking the box appears to fix it for other BD users. If not, try excluding the TB profile folder from BD scanning (leaving the real-time background scan on), which is the general recommendation for all antivirus apps. The built-in Windows Defender doesn't seem to interfere with TB, compared to other AV apps. Add the profile folder as an Exclusion in WD settings.

Do you have Bitdefender? Its anti-spam component is known to mark messages as read before they're actually read.

Actually yes I do. Is there anyway to fix that? I receive all my emails, the new ones just aren't bolded anymore. Thank you for your response.

My Bite Defender tab only has a mark spam messages as read, not mark messages as read so not sure if this fix will work for me. Maybe I'll just have to look for a different internet security provider. Is there another one Thunderbird recommends?
