Firefox doesn't sync with another computer!

more options

I thought I posted this problem some months ago for Firefox Support and didn't get any help so I will try again. My computers are running Windows 10 (1809) and using the latest version of Firefox (66.0.3 64-bit) .

I set up Firefox and went through all of the steps and Firefox will NOT sync to another computer! I would like to get this fixed soon and don't want to waste time doing unnecessary steps. This is why phone Support should be available.

How can this be resolved soon?

Thanks

I logged out and had to change some things manually concerning the user interface on computer #2 that Firefox didn't sync correctly to because it didn't replicate my main computer #1 but other than that, it appears to be syncing. Now I have a webpage on computer #2 that says, "Send Firefox directly to your smartphone and sign in to complete set-up." If a person doesn't use a smartphone, I presume they can skip this step, can't they?

I did send the about:sync-log info via a direct Reply to an email I received above since it was easier to do but the info wasn't received perhaps.

Thanks

Have you tried signing out of all computers and then logging into your Firefox account again?

If you create a new bookmark on one computer, does it mirror over to the other computer that is connected to Firefox Sync?

You can open about:sync-log via the location bar to see if there is a recent log available. You can upload a recent log if the log is too big to put in a reply.

Yes, you can close the page that offers to send a link to a mobile device. You are already connected to Sync, but if you only have one device (desktop computer) then Sync is less useful. Keep in mind that Sync isn't meant to be used as a backup.

In addition to what cor-el has said above, it's also worth nothing that most changes to the interface of Firefox are not sent over sync.

There are a number of reasons for this. For example, if someone is using Firefox on their desktop computer, their layout may not be ideal when transferred to the smaller screen on their laptop.

I did a test to see if the second computer was syncing by adding a URL to Bookmarks on another computer and after waiting around five minutes, the added URL is still not seen on the second computer.

Did you look for a possible Sync log like I posted above?

I did post it, but it sounds like it wasn't received. Anyway, the URL did eventually appear on the second computer. I'm guessing that it may have taken around ten minutes to appear. I could actually time it next time.

Approximately how soon should a person expect a URL saved in the Bookmarks on a computer to appear on another computer's Bookmarks if you have a reasonably high data transfer rate Internet connection?

The time that it takes changed to sync between devices on Firefox Sync will vary. The changes are normally sent to the Mozilla servers instantly from the original computer. Then it's just a matter of the other devices asking the Mozilla server for the changes. Since your devices are not constantly connecting to the Firefox Sync server, this will vary.

I've experienced anything from a less than a minute to around 10 minutes, but everyone's experience may vary.

You can manually force Firefox to sync by pressing the menu button (the 3 lines) and clicking the arrows next to your Firefox Account name.
