Getting a weird issue. When I open Firefox Beta, if it is not already running it loses focus on Firefox and pops open the Google Play Store over the top of Firefox on its Firefox Beta page. It's doing this consistently and repeatably. I'm on a Samsung Galaxy A52 5G on the latest update of Android 14.

  1. activate debug mode by settings, about, tap icon until you see the toast for enabling debug
  2. settings - nimbus experiments - (scroll to bottom) - tap enable custom review prompt - tap control
This disables that experiment which I believe is what is causing the issue. At least, disabling it resolved the issue on my phone. I will note that in the secret settings I also disabled the tab manager "enhancements" just in case that is somehow relevant but I doubt it is.

Same for me, although on Firefox Nightly. It's so annoying. For me, it does stop if I close the Play Store about 3 times in a row. It comes back after a while, but at least I can get a few hours or relief.

It's happening both on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ (both on Android 15). It happened after the last update to Firefox nightly. Once it's fixed, I guess I'll just stop updating the app for a while.

Have you tried rolling back to a prior version? I'm seriously considering doing this and reinstalling with a former APK version.

It has been happening with me too on FF Beta for about 2 days, probably since the last update.

I have tried setting my Homepage to "Last tab", and when opening the browser that way (provided there is an open tab), it doesn't open Google Play Store. However , when opening a new homepage tab, it still forces Google Play Store on my screen. I thought Google Play was to blame until I saw this thread.

The solution above solved the issue for me.

And I agree that I don't think the tab manager enhancements is the issue as I disabled that before this was happening.
