Long ago I used this wav file in Eudora and it worked fine. However, I have never been able to get it to work in Thunderbird. I am currently using Win10 and the file plays fine in Win10 otherwise. The file size is slightly smaller than the other wav files in the Windows/media folder where I have placed the file I want to play. The file is 48kb whereas other files in the windows/media folder are mostly larger in size. I have followed the proper method of assigning a file other than the default sound, where I have browsed to the location and selected the file I desire. However it will never play when receiving a new email. I currently am using another Windows provided file in the windows/media folder and it works fine. I tried uploading the file as an attachment, but it would not upload. Apparently I can only upload images. Anybody have an idea what is happening here?

TB won't accept wav files that aren't of the standard format, 16 bit, 2-channel, 44kHz. You will probably find that's the format of the larger files that do work, while the ones that don't are something like single-channel, 22.5 kHz, 8-bit files.

If you don't have a program such as a CD ripper or music player for converting audio, there are free online sites that do the job.

I used VLC to save it to mp3 and then again save it back to wav file, although the choice was shown as CD for the save. And it worked!! Thanks for the response.
