The top band of most web pages is erased immediately after loading.

Today, I've been having this problem with most web pages. The topmost lines are (usually?) loaded, but then erased in 1 second or thereabouts. This happens when new pages are loaded and when old tabs are viewed. I'm not referring to the Firefox menu bar or the tabs themselves, but to the pages themselves.

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

P.S. When I scroll up, the page slides under the blank band.

This problem has indeed been solved, although by more drastic measures than Corel proposes. I didn't try them, but they might have done the trick. Thank you, Corel.

The drastic solution will result in losing all open webpages, and they will not be restorable, so beware, and know how to restore them from the History tab. Open the Help dropdown. Then click on Troubleshoot. Click on Reset in the box in the upper right of the resulting page. Evidently, this erases enough information to remove the glitch, even when you revisit the same pages as before.

Are you sure you weren't in full screen mode? If it happens again, try pressing F11.

I don't think it was in FS mode. Since I have since solved the problem, I may not (hopefully) ever know. But thanks for the F11 hint. BTW, I have since had another problem with FF: On some pages, I lost scrolling control. The page would scroll whenever I moved the cursor up or down. I found a solution for that problem, too. I turned the accelerator off. Apparently some sites use software acceleration while others don't. I haven't noticed any increased sluggishness since then, all is OK for now.

Did you try before if it happened in Firefox Safe mode?

This still sounds either like an extension issue if the removal did occur after the page has loaded or a problem with hardware acceleration (less likely).
