How do I close Firefox and go offline?

The Firefox icon is always open in the tool bar at the bottom of my screen. There are times when I want to work offline. I cannot close Firefox.

Do you get an error message when you try to close your active Firefox windows?

If you right-click the Firefox icon on the task bar and choose Close window, can you shut it down? (You may have to repeat until all windows are closed.)

If the Firefox icon stays on the task bar without the raised, more button-like appearance, you may have pinned Firefox to your task bar for easy access even after the program is closed.
