Bookmarks showing in "Bookmarks" but not in Bookmark Library

I can add bookmarks which would show if I press the Bookmarks button, but when I click on Bookmarks/Organize Bookmarks I do not find anything there. Only when I restore my bookmarks from a dated automated entry can I get my bookmarks, and even then I do not find them in the Library. I have no problem exporting the bookmarks to an HTML file, yet importing them does not work no matter how many times I try it.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
