Hi Andrew, does that tab contain any particular content, such as a repeat of the currently open page, or is it blank?

Sometimes a runaway blank tab problem can be caused by setting Firefox to try using a tab to open types of content it can't display. To solve this problem, see the steps in: Firefox repeatedly opens empty tabs or windows after you click on a link.
