I have been using Thunderbird for years for phateful@bellsouth.net. Since about a two weeks ago, AT&T via att.net has refused to grant Thunderbird access to my email. Yahoo.com has been happy to supply my email via mail.yahoo.com and offer me a $5/mo add free version. I realize that I originally had a telephone account with Bell South when I set up phateful@bellsouth.net and there was a money stream to AT&T. Is this just a case of the "other shoe finally drops"? As I said, I have been using Thunderbird for a very long time, I like it, I like its features, and I am irked at AT&T. Can you help me or tell me to continue to migrate my email to phateful1@gmail.com. Thanks ajm

Chosen solution

An AT&T account should work if you use a secure mail key.

But you can set a gmail account to collect mail from other providers' accounts, in gmail webmail settings.
