Service provider switched to Gmail as mail server. Thunderbird quit working, (no send, no receive). Discovered that if I switched "allow unsecure apps" 'ON' in gmail, E-mail works. Is there a cure in Thunderbird? I would rather keep G-mail "allow unsecuere apps) swittch OFF

Chosen solution

Is the authentication for the incoming and outgoing servers 'normal password' or OAuth2? Using OAuth2 works no matter the 'less-secure apps' or two-step verification status.
