I am loving Thunderbird and are using it for many many years now, but one thing always annoyed me and decided to ask support here.
So, when Thunderbird is open in de background, and a window explorer is open in the foreground and I want to send a file, I click on the file with right mouse button, select send to > mail recipient, the new mail windows opens, but it is always in the back ground and does not pop up on the foreground.
replicate: 1. open thunderbird, and minimize (or let it open) 2. go to explorer 3. click on a file with RMB and send to mail recipient 4. the new mail opens in the back ground and you have to manually go the windows.
From a user friendly point of view, I would expect that window to be on top of all other windows.

I don't know whether I clicked some button or what, but Thunderbird suddenly decided to activate message threading a week or two back. I've tried clicking the threading icon, which turns it off temprorarily, but it always comes back on. Same with View->Sort By->Unthreaded. It always comes back on, I suspect the next time I run the app.
I'm running Thunderbird 115.5.1 (64 bit) under Windows 11.
How can I turn it off permanently?

Is there a template file I can edit by hand? Or is there any currently working extension that will to this?
The problem is that images display differently on different mail readers.

When typing a message in Thunderbird and I enter an incorrect word, Thunderbird annotates the word with an underscore. If I then right-click on the misspelled word, Thunderbird opens a menu that starts with a list of alternatives, followed by some other options (e.g., 'Add to Dictionary", etc) which I can select.
For most of my spelling problems, the list of alternatives is quite appropriate, but one in particular is totally wrong! I often will enter 'eth' rather than 'the', but the list of alternatives consists of
Only when you actually call up spell check will you find 'the' listed, below at least on MORE proper name!
How can this default list of alternatives be modified so that meaningful values are listed and not some proper names likely not even very common today?
(BTW, this is apparently a function of global spell check, not just Thunderbird, but TBird and Firefox is where I commonly encounter it.) Thanks.

The error-txt is (translated from my danish version): Sending the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to the SMTP server smtp.office365.com timed out. Try again.
I expected that that a password should be entered before sending - but no ..... - only a long waiting periode and then the error-txt
Server-settings in Thunderbird are: IMAP-server: outlook.office365.com, IMAP port 993, IMAP-crypt.: TLS SMPT-server: smtp.office365.com, SMTP port 587, SMTP-crypt. STARTTLS, Auth: General password

I have been using Thunderbird for a few years now to manage my charter domain email account. On October 9th, 2023 Thunderbird stopped updating with new emails and the application started throwing an error stating "Cannot connect to SMTP server".
I have spent countless hours on the phone with Charter who have been very helpful in tracing emails for my account (both outbound and inbound) using their web email application. However, when testing with Thunderbird - everything goes wrong again.
My current server configuration is as follows: Server Type: IMAP Mail Server Server Name: mobile.charter.net Port: 993 User Name: full_email_address@charter.net
Outgoing Server (SMTP) Configuration: Server Name: mobile.charter.net Port: 587 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication: Normal Password Username: full_email_address@charter.net
As it stands, I can send emails from my Thunderbird account to my various Gmail accounts that I have created while trouble shooting. My inbox has not updated since October 9th, 2023 in Thunderbird, but there are active emails coming into my account when I check my Charter web email inbox.
In addition to that, I have disabled all AV rules around email services. When I try sending emails in Safe Mode (Windows 11), I cannot send emails.

Some messages get duplicated in my outlook.office365.com Inbox. They both have the same date, time and content.
Deleting them deletes only one of them while the other becomes an empty message marked as received on December 31st 1969 at 7:00 PM.
Quitting and restarting TB make the duplicate / empty message disappear.
While this duplication is not very frequent, maybe 1 in 50, the following behaviour is constant. This has never happened in my Gmail Inbox. The duplicates appear only in TB, not in the Outlook web client. I have been using TB since a week or two.

Thunderbird v.59.2 on Windows Vista desktop. Yup, Vista :-) Cable provider died, so years of emails to addresses using isp-provided email addresses are in Thunderbird but can't use emails.
In short term got TMobile 5G wireless and it is hideous, beware! For now I use my cell as hotspot to get on internet on old desktop.
I'll list what I've tried in a sec, but here's my ultimate goal: I want to get AT&T fiber installed and hooked up on new desktop (Windows 11) and install latest thnder bird there and bring over old files. Before installing at&t I have to formally cancel with former cable provider (it's in an odd limbo). I've assumed it's better to cull all email addresses related to those email accounts before severing all ties.

I can't upgrade to v60 with Vista. I modified advanced config and added strict config Boolean setting and set to false and added check compatibility 59.2 setting and set to false.
The email crawler add on still gives me not compatible error. I restarted Thunderbird and that didn't help, unfortunately.
What can I do?
Again, my two main concerns are 1) harvest email address on my dead email accounts so I can send notifications of my new email addresses and 2) prepare to move all Thunderbird stuff to new desktop once I have working wireless internet to facilitate.

After reading the most recent message in a/any folder, if I switch to a different folder and then return, the view is of a different, random, message sometimes months older and I then have to scroll back down to return to the view that I had before switching folders. It use to be that, when returning to a folder, it would show the same view that I had previously. This is fairly recent behaviour. Currently on ver. 115.5.1. Anyone same problem or, better still, solution?

I noticed that Edit->Undo will undo moved messages and stuff, but not deleted messages. So if you send a message to the trash and hit undo, it won't undo that. Instead, it will undo whatever you did before it (or won't undo anything if you haven't done anything else since opening TB).
Or is that just me?
