Hey, I have a problem with addons and Firefox Sync

On my computer I have 3 addons installed, but I dont need them there because they are useless on this system. But on my Linux Laptop I need these 3 addons to be enabled. Both Profiles are using Firefox Sync to keep the same data. That means if I disable/enable them on one of the devices it affect the other one.

Is there any way to prevent that?

Thanks in advance

There is a special sync pref to determine whether to ignore changes:

  • services.sync.prefs.sync.addons.ignoreUserEnabledChanges

Can I have different enabled states on different machines?

Hi Kurotaku, if you go to the Options/Preferences page, there's a heading in the left column for Sync. It should offer checkboxes for which kinds of data to sync, and you can turn off extensions. Hopefully after that takes effect (5 minutes? an hour??), you should be able to enable/disable/remove extensions on the different profiles without affecting the other. Does that work?

For quick reference, this is the page I mean:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
