I have just upgraded from FF3 to FF8 Customized setting browser.link.open_newwindo.restriction 0 Popups triggered from searchable fields open in a new tab BUT they do not populate the originating field with selected results
"Diabetes" in search box get choices 250 2504 check choice Hit confirm and search box should have a number 250 Worked in FF3 not 8.

Is that pref added by an extension? What happens if you right-click and reset that pref?
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Upgraded to FF9 and now unable to find FF listed in Start/Programs!! Maybe I need glasses- was there with FF3. So not able to enter safe mode?
In Firefox 4+ versions you can use one of these to start in Safe mode:
- Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)
I am not sure if you guys understand that I want to keep the FF behaviour as it is (ie opening popups as maximized tab windows). I know how to return to the default, and yes my problem is then gone. The puzzle for me is that in FF3 I could do what I am wanting...and upgrading has broken it. So on my work machines I have reverted to FF3 and am happy.....but will soon be obsolete.
