How do I have new windows open instead of tabs?
I have even gone back to previous versions which also no longer open in windows. The tabs only open a single site.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I tried your suggestions but no luck.
You can check the browser.link.open_newwindow prefs on the about:config page.
I am not sure if I have fixed my issue. What I did was installed Firefox completely and reinstalled it and made no changes. I moved the home and reload icons and the issue returned. So I uninstalled and reinstalled and no problem. Any thoughts?
