When I try to look at certain Add-Ons, version 3.0.8 is being detected, but when I go to Help>About Mozilla Firefox, It shows that I have version 3.6.3.

I was browsing through the add-ons (specifically FireDownload) I noticed that the "Add to Firefox" button wasn't green. When I clicked on it anyway, it said that I needed a newer version of Firefox for this Add-on, and that version 3.0.8 wasn't compatible. But when I look at Help> About Mozilla Firefox it says that I have version 3.6.3.

For some reason the add-ons page is detecting the wrong version.

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up by another program that you installed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent

type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page. Filter = general.useragent.extra.firefox Right-click that preference and select Reset Then restart Firefox

On Mac running OSX, Firefox 3.6.4, same problem. Quicktime plugin 3.6.6 installed (verified in Internet Plugins directory), Firefox incorrectly reports Quicktime 3.6.3 plugin. This apparently has nothing to do with general.useragent.extra.firefox; this is set at default on my machine with value of Firefox/3.6.4, and the reset button is grayed out because it was never changed in the first place. Some bug or cached value in Firefox is identifying wrong version of installed Quicktime Plugin.

I have the same problem. If I reset the useragent string using about:config and open up a new tab and run about:config again, it shows the useragent has been reset. But if I quit Firefox and start it again, about:config shows my general.useragent.extra.microsoftdotnet value to be (.NET CLR 3.5.30729). All of the other general.useragent values are set to the default.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox twice, shutting down in between, but it still won't register the correct version.
