Retore multiple active tabs per Firefox window.

dragonks

Latest Stable Firefox, windows, over 4000 tabs. Overall Firefox works great for me. but when I restart it to install the latest versions etc, it only restores one active/loaded tab per window. Rest are restored, but in a closed/unloaded state. I usually have 5-20 open tabs per window, and hundreds more unloaded, it's how I work. How on earth can I get it to restore all the open/loaded tabs as they were, not in the unloaded state they default to?

Issue still occurs in a new install with no addons, default settings, under 30 tabs etc. Ditto Win 10 or 11.

Also, how on earth can I get official Mozzilla pages to use Dark Mode??

This is intentional so that any restore is reasonably stable.

If you want to "void the warranty" you can get all the X thousand loaded upon restore by changing some internals, however that may effectively hamper any further restores and the sessionstore integrity over time, if you want to go that route.

Cheers but not what I'm looking for. Can confirm loading thousands of tabs at once not the best. So I want to re-load 20-40 tabs on restarting firefox, not just 3-6.

In other words you want to keep track of which were or were not suspended, not based on arbitrary number, or days of history, or recent use … just save whether they were or were not suspended no matter what … and reload these specifically after restore? I don't think that's data that would be getting saved in the sessionstore file — you might need to look for an extension for this task.

The other option would be to pin those tabs you want reloaded on restore, as there's a separate setting whether to load pinned tabs or not — so you can make that split to restore or not based on the tab pinning. Look for browser.sessionstore.restore_pinned_tabs_on_demand in that scenario.
