I think your profile saves when you have done with your change: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-management
Backup should be triggered every 24 hours.
wxie: I am not talking about changing my profile, I am talking about when the automatic profile backup tool recently added to Firefox runs (Settings > Account & Sync > Backup).
TyDraniu: That's what I had thought, but I am seeing as many as 8 different backups being created in less than an hour. So I am thinking it can also be triggered by my actions.
