In your profile, do you see big files under the Mail folder? In other words are your files still on the computer, just not showing in TB?

If you have 20 years of stuff, you probably have migrated that profile from other machines so are familiar with doing that.

Mine was messed up and wanted me to enter brand new setup information even though the profile was there.

Here is what I did...

I imagine there was one or two files were corrupt, but didn't know what to delete. My fix was far from elegant, but I am up and running.

I created a clean new profile, then copied all the files from a backup over that profile. Unfortunately those files were from July. (my automatic backup was not working correctly)

I was able to open Thunderbird and all the mail folders were back and my settings were back.

I then copied the "Mail" folder from the profile from my current non-working profile into the new profile.

Everything is working now.

Well as Thunderbird is open source you can help to debug the problem and fix the issue. In my case have I add the error message from the error console.

I personally also had a lot of problems with 102.2.2 and switched back to 102.2.1 which can be easily downloaded from the releases page. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/releases/

That's the url for 102.2.1 https://download.mozilla.org/?product=thunderbird-102.2.1-SSL&os=win64&lang=en-US

I also have disabled the automatic update for now so that I stay on 102.2.1 until a bugfixed version is released.

Just to be clear, only Linux users have a simple option to opt out of updates. Given that they represent less than 5% of users it is something I do not discuss generally as it creates more issues than it resolves.
