Hi irishsofie, Windows Live Mail -- the Microsoft desktop software that was discontinued a few years ago -- uses a different file format from Thunderbird, so it's not directly convertible / importable. It is a multi-step process requiring an add-on, as described in this article: Switching to Thunderbird.
