On Ubuntu 16.04 Thunderbird 60.2.1 (64-bit) flashes the cursor in a mail composition window at a glacial 30 times per minute meaning that it disappears for a second at a time.

Compare that to gvim at 90/minute, and Chrome at around 60, and Firefox - well, I already changed that, but it was around the 60 mark,

On Windows 7, Thunderbird 45.8.0 flashes the cursor at a rational speed of about 60/minute.

Given that the cursor also disappears if you select multiple empty lines, it is annoying that it doesn't show up for a second after it does return. That is a separate bug which happens on both Linux and Windows.
