Flame: Bad call quality (microphone?)

I'm using a Flame with a German Telekom SIM in the first slot. Call quality seems good to me, but people on the other end repeatedly complain that they can hardly hear what I say, and - no - it's not because of what I say. ;-)

Is this likely a hardware (microphone) or a software issue? What can be done to fix it?

I also wonder if I can get the phone repaired. The only decent alternative seem to be the Z3 and the Z3 Compact, and they're quite expensive.

Update: Probably not a microphone problem. I also have the issue when using a Bluetooth headset.

You should probably update your Flame to a newer build which should resolve this issue.

According to conversation partners, the update did have a positive effect. Still, quality doesn't seem to be great with the Flame. I just received an FX0, and I wonder how it compares in terms of call quality.
