I am running Firefox desktop 35.0.1. I have Adobe flash player 16.0.0.235 installed, which is virtually the latest version, but Firefox add-ons tells me I need to update the plugin and the 'Always Activate' option is greyed out. This means I have to manually activate flash on any page I visit which is running it.

Thanks in advance.

thanks sam, everything there looks as it's supposed to be so this couldn't explain the source of the problem unfortunately. one other thing to try is to force a reload of the blocklist from mozilla's servers. it is explained at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Blocklisting/Testing#Forcing_a_Blocklist_Ping how to do this.

hi, when you type about:plugins into the address bar, can you copy the whole content of that page and put them into http://pastebin.mozilla.org/ or a similar service and paste a link here on the forum? this might be helpful in assessing the problem. thank you!

Hi Philip, Thanks for the reply. Since posting my question I have updated flash again, to no avail. Here is the plugin data: http://pastebin.mozilla.org/8758116

If refreshing the blocklist doesn't help:

Is the Adobe Flash plugin still listed as vulnerable with the "Always Activate" option greyed out in the Firefox Add-ons Plugins list?

What type of prompt do you now see when you visit a page with Flash content? See the images in these articles:

I was wondering if Flash is still being blocked or if you simply need to switch the setting from "Ask to Activate" to "Always Activate".

Flash 16.0.0.235 was the latest back on December 9. There has been four updates for Flash 16.0 since to try and fix some critical exploits as the current has been 16.0.0.305 since Feb 4/5.
