Why are my emails being saved in the cloud?
Hi kids,
for some reason, Thunderbird is not directly storing my emails on my computer. when I go to "sent" Ai have to wait for them to be downloaded from "somewhere"
I do not want this program to be attached to the "cloud" in any fashion other than for direct sending and receiving of emails.
How is this achieved?
Thank you

What is your account type - POP or IMAP?
I dont think that is the answer I am looking for.is not saving
the Thunderbird program is not saving sent emails on my computer directly. For some reason when I go to the sent folder, I have to wait for them to download.
additionally it is constantly trying re down load all the emails previously received.
Previously it did not do this. I reinstalled my windows system a month or two ago and then installed the new version of Thunderbird and this started happening.
Further this clutters up processing time. as weld I am typically in remote areas which slows everything down or worse, there is no cloud connection and I do not have all my emails.
What does your Copies & Folders settings say for this account?
Use [≡] → Options → Account Settings to get to your account. The default for IMAP accounts is to "Automatically place a copy in:" the "Sent" folder on this account. If it's an IMAP account (hence the initial question), that's remote.
The Server Settings page in that account will tell you which type it is.

Bless your heart.
I've opened the window.
It basically gives me two options and both use the same words.
I realize that incoming messages are kept on the ISP server. Mot a worry.
I want the rest of the activity simply immediately saved on my computer with no need for the cloud.
what do I check r enter and where to achieve this?
You can either switch the "Sent" Folder on [___] option to "Local Folders" or select the "Other Folder" option and pick one within "Local Folders" (those will be kept on your computer rather than on the server side of the account).
