I previously moved item on the search bar - the default page, Acrobat page conversion and one other app. I wish to adjust my previous moves. I used control-click but that gave me DEFAULT icons - not the ones I want.

Can you attach a screenshot to show what you mean?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

Do you mean one of the 9 squares on the about:newtab page or do you mean the Bookmarks Toolbar?

See this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):

You can change the order of the boxes on the about:newtab page and drag an item to a different slot to pin it to that position or you can remove a website by clicking the close X to block that URL. You can drag a bookmark or history item and drop them in a slot on the about:newtab page to pin them and have your own favorites sites showing.

Changes made manually on the about:newtab page are stored in the browser.newtabpage.pinned (default = [null]) and browser.newtabpage.blocked prefs that you can check/modify on the about:config page.

I am referring to the 4 items to the left of the back arrow or to the right of the down arrow

Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.

  • Firefox menu button > Options
  • View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
  • right-click empty toolbar area
  • if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up
