When starting a session, sometimes it tells me it is already running, when it's not

Sometimes, when trying to start a new session on Firefox, a box will popup and tell me that Firefox is already running. I'm sure it was shutdown after the last session. I can only get onto Firefox by rebooting the computer. Is something keeping the session from closing, like a virus?? I leave the computer on, but close down the internet overnight. Love Firefox but will use something else if this keeps up. Don't want to be hacked. Help???

Hi,

The definite way to close Firefox is to click the Firefox button on the top left and Exit. Alternatively File > Exit. It may take a few seconds depending on the number of extensions and plugins, for Firefox to close completely. You can also make sure by right-clicking the Taskbar and Start Task Manager, click the Processes tab, check for plugincontainer.exe, right-click on it and End Process. If the OS and the anti-virus are up to date, then usually there should be no cause for concern.

Thanks, I'll try that. I've always closed with the "X" in the upper left corner.

Thanks again....
