How can I revert the new tab page to one of the old designs?

I recently got Firefox, but I decided I liked one of the old new tab pages more (it had the search bar with the Firefox Quantum logo above it). Is there any way I could revert the page to that?

It is quite easy to customize the New Tab page thru clicking the "gear" in the upper-right corner of the New Tab page.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-new-tab-page

And via this extension (and a few other extensions) you can further customize your own New Tab page. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/

Unfortunately, no extension seems to do what I want, and I can't customize the new tab page so that it looks like the old one I enjoy.

You can disable the Activity Stream design and revert to the earlier design by setting this pref to false.

  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled

For the home page you can disable the Activity Stream design by setting this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Neither of those do what I want. I'll attach the picture of the homepage I'm talking about.

Your question was about the New Tab Page, but what you really meant was the Mozilla Firefox Start Page - and unfortunately : as of Firefox 57 that page won't be back .....

Aw, that's too bad. I like it way more than the current one. Thanks anyways.

Do you want to use that home page as the new tab page?

You're not the only one who wanted that particular page back ....

But as you kept mentioning the New Tab Page, maybe you'd like to try this add-on :

Yep. Sorry if I was bad at communicating that.

I don't know if this will work, but you could try it:

(1) Turn off the Activity Stream on the home page (2) Use New Tab Override to display about:home on the new tab page

For #1:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste newt and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

Click the Home button (or Alt+Home on the keyboard) or call up a new window (Ctrl+n) to confirm that worked.

For #2, the link is earlier in this thread.
