I suggest brewing a cup of coffee for this one, because there's no "one-step undo" for the Refresh. However, as long as you have an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop and about 10 minutes, you can do it.

Check inside the "Old Firefox Data" folder that Refresh adds to your desktop for a folder with a semi-randomized name. If there's only one, that probably has your old settings and add-ons. If there's more than one, you'll want to work with the one that was updated most recently.

Once you have identified the profile folder you want to restore, here is my suggested "old profile resurrection procedure":

Overview

These are the steps described in more detail below:

1. Create a new Firefox profile (Firefox 47+)
2. Remove everything from that new profile folder
3. Copy in everything from the old profile folder

Create a new Firefox profile (Windows)

In Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load that page.

Click the "Create New Profile" button and assign a name like OldSettings. Ignore the button for changing the folder location and click Finish.

Next, scroll down and below the Profile: OldSettings box, click the "Set as default profile" button.

Then scroll back to the top of the page and click the "Restart normally" button. This should exit Firefox and start Firefox up in that new profile.

Open the New Profile folder in Windows Explorer

Firefox in the new profile should look like a factory fresh installation. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
• Help menu > Troubleshooting Information
• type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table, click the "Open Folder" button. Firefox will launch your brand new profile folder in Windows Explorer.

Leaving that folder open, switch back to Firefox, and Exit using either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
• (menu bar) File > Exit

When Firefox closes, the profile folder should be front and center, or you can activate it using the Task bar.

Copy Old Data in Place of New

In that new profile folder you just popped open -- NOT the one on your desktop -- select all the contents (you can use Ctrl+a) and delete (you can press the Delete key on the keyboard).

Leaving that window open, open or switch over to your Old Firefox Data folder. Drill down into your old profile folder. (At this level you should see a folder named bookmarkbackups among many other things.)

Select everything (Ctrl+a) and Copy (either right-click > Copy or Ctrl+c).

Switch to the empty new profile folder in other window and Paste (either right-click > Paste or Ctrl+v). This may take a minute since some of the files are large.

Start Firefox

Firefox should start up in that "new" profile with the resurrected old profile data. Success?

I have discovered that I have the Everhelper from online - Nimbus (?) and that is good enough So WTF I have llost all my themes and personas etc eytc - BUT from my Everhelper I can pick and select any website I want they are all there - I do not really need a lot of care - If I had then maybe I might have chosen a different browser - I have supported firefox but when I want some support I don't get it Patricia

I have not yet seen your letter - I use Incredimail - this may be a reason for the delay - but also I only wanted to get some of the details back

I offer this explanation - there is a device Everhelper and it keeps lists of the sites I visit and enjoy - there are icons / pictures of every site all together 260 or more sites

In the Firefox Browser I used to have a toolbar - which appeared when so ever I clicked to get a new tab - but it does not do that now How so ever - it may be possible that I do not miss the Personas (or personae - if you like your Latin >>) no and nor shall I miss the themes

When so ever I click on the tab named Everhelper it opens up about 8 - 9 lists one for each named collection filed away

Can you lease explain to me how to save this - at present - I have discovered that I can open Everhelper then go to a named list Choose a named site from among those on the list click there and - to the right of the tab named Everhelper - the chosen site appears

All in all - I was quite definitely scared - at first thinking that I had lost ALL of my collection of tabs-

Do you use a different product called Everhelper?

I'm just not sure what's going on with those extensions, whether they somehow fell off the main toolbar or need some configuration to use in Firefox 57.

There is a new session manager extension, but I don't know if it can read your old saved sessions: Tab Session Manager. You might have to check your history; normally the address bar will show matches from history if you type a few letters of the site name or page title.

This may be open for a little while while I check the links send by jscher2000 - I am doing that first because of some ways his solutions worked in the past it is 12.40 16/11/17 right - I have installed from the lin ks sent byb email from jscher2000 - and the fourth link showed no further comments - one or two fragments did not work when I started THIS - but I can go look after testing 16:28 16/11/2017 ok I followed all your instructions and was most careful to so do - the result I do dee-clay-uh !!!
