when I click on hyperlink to "donate" in "About Thunderbird" it works. Firefox starts and displays the Mozilla page. In e-mails clicking on hyperlinks causes them to turn red, then back to blue again but nothing else happens. No Firefox. I've done all the suggested fixes listed in the Support section but none fixed the problem. I can copy the link and paste it in Firefox. Hyperlinks worked in version 35 but not in version 45 with no changes to Thunderbird. I'm a user, not a programmer so for any suggestions that involve changing things please be very specific about how to do so. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Henry C Smith

On the toolbar > Options > Attachments > incoming and delete anything that mentions HTTP, HTTPS HTML or basically anything you think looks odd. You can not break anything by deleting to much, you will just be asked next time such and such file type comes in what to do with it instead of it just opening. For instance you delete the entry for DOC files next time you need to select Word to open the file.

Alternatively you could edit the entries, but pressing delete asks less of you really.

Hi Matt, thank you for your reply. I did as you suggested (although there weren't any listings that had the HTTP, HTTPS or HTML) and deleted all. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to make any difference, still works in "About Thunderbird" but not any where else in the e-mail. Even the "Welcome to Thunderbird" hyperlink to donate doesn't work either. The Incoming and Outgoing both are now blank. Even restarted Thunderbird but still made no difference. The hyperlinks clicked on in e-mails just turn red, then back to blue but nothing happens. No Firefox except with hyperlinks in "About Thunderbird". My old ver. 35 worked and with no changes in Thunderbird the update to ver. 45 lost the working hyperlinks. It seems to me that update 45 changed some Preference or other controlling factor in Thunderbird and I have no clue what that would be.

If you have any further suggestions to try please let me know and I'll give them a go. Thanks for your help.

Regards...Hank (Henry C Smith)

HCarlyleS here. Matt was kind enough to offer a possible solution. Unfortunately it didn't work. After trying his suggestion I still have hyperlinks that don't work in the main app. The hyperlinks in the "About Thunderbird" still work normally and call up Firefox. All other hyperlinks in both the main program and emails still turn red and then back to blue when clicked on but nothing happens. No Firefox. The hyperlinks not working started after the 45 update. If there are any further suggestions as to how to get the hyperlinks to work I'd be glad to try them. In the interim I even uninstalled Thunderbird and re-installed it with a fresh download from Mozilla but that didn't help either. Still no working hyperlinks. Regards...HCarlyleS
