Firefox doesn't ask me for a recovery key. No other device has the account.

I don't have my bookmarks, etc. on another device and I just installed a new operating system. I do have my recovery key. I signed into sync but nothing happens when I click Sync now. How can I use my recovery key?

Firefox 29 doesn't have the recovery key option anymore. Mozilla opted for a simple email/password combo to get rid of that pesky recovery key.

You have to upgrade your Sync account to use the new Sync server.

If you need to access data stored in the previous Sync version that used the recovery key then you will have to temporarily install a Firefox 28 version.

If you have "reset" anything with regards to Sync in an attempt to get it to work, you may have 'blown' any chance of recovering your data from the Sync system. Sync wasn't intended to be used as a backup medium for storing data for a single device. Which is one reason for the upgrade and the elimination of a 3rd authentication "key". The new version is supposed to improve the "success rate" for users who misuse Sync for single device backup.
