unable to export bookmarks.html, tried safemode, new profile.
Windows XP Sp3 long time Firefox user. Had no trouble until version 12.0.Tried safe mode, new profile, complete uninstall /reinstall of Firefox 12.0. Cannot export bookmarks. Also Internet Explorer 8 will no longer import directly form Firefox as it used to. Probably because HTML bookmark isn't being created.

What happens when you try to export your bookmarks to HTML? Error message? Silent failure?

I get a silent failure. Nothing happens.
I followed the directions many times and nothing happens. Silent failure.
when i follow the directions nothing happens. SIlent failure. Used to work well on previous Firefox versions. First time I ever had this problem!!
Start Firefox in -> Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if your add-ons/extensions are causing the problems.

While using Firefox Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox, perform the suggestions mentioned in the above articles provided by me and jscher2000
Check and tell if its working in Safe Mode.
I have tried Safe mode a number of times and still cannot export bookmarks. I can however, import bookmarks from Firefox 12.0 to Google Chrome 19 with no problem also am able to export from Chrome OK.
