I am trying to change my default search engine to Firefox and it isn't allowing me. What could be preventing this? and how do I get around it? Thank you in advance for your help.

Firefox is a web browser and not a search engine. Mozilla the makers of the Firefox web browsers does not have a search engine of their own. A search engine is for example qwant.com duckduckgo.com google.com bing.com etc.

Unless you are actually asking how to make Firefox the default web browser on Windows 11 then see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-change-your-default-browser-firefox-windows https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/make-firefox-your-default-browser
