I've got a new SSD and have reinstalled Firefox as my browser. In the past I've had the address field on the left and the search field to its right. I can get the search field on the same level as the address field but have not been able to switch their locations.

I have attached a screen shot of that section of my browser home page.

I thank you for whatever suggestions or guidance anyone can give.

I can drag the Search box to the right or the left of the address bar via FF menu > More tools > Customize toolbar.

You have described the exact process I have used successfully several times -- but for some reason was not working with this new installation. HOWEVER, I'm always a give-it-one-last-try person so i followed that method again -- several times and the search field FINALLY remained where I had been trying to position it, to the right of the address field.

So, all's well that ends well, huh? At least for now.

What is amazing to me is the imprecise nature of those toolbar elements. I would think that with a large resource-rich design process that Mozilla appears to have, the positioning of such elements could be positioned securely and not as it is now, with happenstance, "Oh, I got lucky. That position stuck!"

Thanks again for your help.
