Firefox 53 Cannot update password

I have Firefox 53 on a MAC running 10.12.4 . I am unable to update passwords for certain sites. I have clear all the history and options in history. I looked and the sites are not in the exception list under security. Settings are set to save passswords.

Hi, if you are using the Password Manager, try removing them as shown under 'Viewing and deleting passwords' in Password Manager - Remember, delete and edit logins and passwords in Firefox.

If you aren't using the Password Manager, delete ALL references to the websites in question, as shown under the heading 'How do I remove a single website from my history?' in this article - Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox, then try the sites (not from old bookmarks) again. Note: It may take a few minutes to complete the deletion.
