Sign in to your Mozilla account
Choose one of the following ways to connect Firefox for Android to your Mozilla account. You don't need to use both methods.
Option 1: Connect Firefox for Android with a QR code
To sync your bookmarks, payment methods, history, passwords and open tabs with Firefox Sync using a Mozilla account and QR code:
On your Firefox desktop:
- Go to firefox.com/pair. You may need to sign in to your Mozilla account, if you haven't yet.
- If you do not have an existing Mozilla account, just enter your email address and click to create one. For additional information, see Access Mozilla services with a Mozilla account.
- Select I already have Firefox for mobile and then select the button.
- Firefox displays a QR code that you can scan with your Android device.
On your Firefox for Android app:
- Tap the three-dot
menu button.
- Tap .
- Tap .
- Point your device's camera toward the QR code on your desktop.
- Follow the prompts to finish connecting your device.
Option 2: Sign in with your email address
To sync your bookmarks, payment methods, history, passwords and open tabs with Firefox Sync without scanning a QR code:
- Tap the three-dot
menu button.
- Tap .
- Tap .
- Enter your Mozilla account email address and follow the prompts to sign in.

Choose what to sync
- Tap the three-dot
menu button.
- Tap .
- Tap your Mozilla account email address.
- Select the types of data you want Firefox to sync, such as bookmarks, history, passwords, payment methods, and open tabs.
Give Firefox some time to sync after connecting a new device, especially if you have a large amount of browsing data.
Sync with a new phone or tablet
To access your synced Firefox data on a new Android phone or tablet:
- Install Firefox on the new device.
- Sign in to the same Mozilla account you use on your other Firefox devices.
- Open your Sync settings and make sure the data types you want are selected.
- Allow Firefox time to sync your data.
You can use the same process to sync between an Android phone and an Android tablet. You don't need to transfer the data directly from one Android device to the other. Firefox Sync connects both devices through your Mozilla account.
Troubleshoot Firefox Sync
The sign-in option doesn’t appear
If you don't see Sign in or the Sync options shown in this article:
- Update Firefox for Android to the latest version.
- Open Settings and check whether you're already signed in. If your Mozilla account email address appears, Firefox is already connected to that account.
- Restart Firefox and check again.
The location or wording of an option may differ slightly if you're using an older Firefox version.
I don’t receive a verification code
Some sign-ins may require you to verify your Mozilla account. If you're expecting a verification email or code:
- Check that you entered the correct email address.
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Wait a few minutes before requesting another code.
- Make sure you're using the most recent code if you requested more than one.
A verification code is different from the QR code used to pair Firefox for Android with Firefox on your computer. If you have completed all the steps above and still have not received a code, you can contact the Mozilla account support team by completing this form.
My data doesn’t appear after signing in
Signing in doesn't necessarily mean all of your data has finished syncing. If bookmarks, passwords, history or tabs don't appear:
- Make sure both devices are signed in to the same Mozilla account.
- On each device, check the Sync settings and make sure the data type you want is selected.
- Make sure both devices have an internet connection.
- Allow some time for Firefox to complete the sync.
- Restart Firefox and check again if the data still doesn't appear.
If data was deleted before it successfully synced, Firefox Sync may not be able to recover it. Sync should not be used as your only backup.
I get an error when signing in
If you receive an error, including a server error, when signing in:
- Check your internet connection and try again.
- Update Firefox for Android to the latest version.
- Wait a few minutes and try signing in again if the error appears to be temporary.
- If you can sign in to your Mozilla account elsewhere but Firefox for Android continues to show an error, use Mozilla account support resources for additional troubleshooting.
I can’t access my Mozilla account
If you've forgotten your password or can't access the email address associated with your Mozilla account, use the Mozilla account recovery options before trying to set up Sync again.
If you changed the email address for your Mozilla account, make sure you're signing in with the email address currently associated with that account.
Connect to a self-hosted Mozilla account server
The following steps are for advanced users who use a self-hosted Mozilla account or Sync server. Most Firefox users don't need to change these settings.
To customize your Mozilla account server settings:
- Open the Firefox for Android menu.
- Tap .
- Tap .
- Tap the Firefox icon 5 times.
- Go back.
- Tap .
- Tap and enter your content server URL (for example:
https://www.fxa.example.local). - Tap and enter your sync server URL (for example:
https://token.fxa.example.local/token/1.0/sync/1.5). - Tap that appeared in the menu. The server changes will take effect when you run Firefox again.
