I have lost my default firefox page with toolbar etc
I can no longer get my regular Firefox page. I was trying to organise the bookmarks (menu etc) and something happened. All I get when I click the Firefox icon i get a page that shows only a search bar - no top menu for tools, bookmarks and so on. The page had also shown my speed dials. I don't know how to attach a screenshot to show you
Is this enough?
cheers Pete
Chosen solution
Ahh, that's what you want.
Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar
or you can set it to always be visible;
Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar. Look for Show / Hide Toolbars at the bottom left.
There is also a Restore Defaults button at the bottom middle.
Note: about:customizing is no longer present in Firefox 47+ releases.
- Press Alt or F10 to bring up the toolbar.
Then View > Toolbars > Customize. - Right-click on a blank spot in the toolbar and select Customize.

What was your homepage?
Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar.
There are two settings;
- When Firefox Starts
When the browser is started, what do you want to display? Many of us choose Show My Home Page.
- Home Page
When a new page is opened, what do you want to be displayed?
- Use Current Page. Use what ever page(s) are open at that time.
- Use Bookmark
- Restore To Default. about:home shows a Mozilla home page with tools.
You can use any of these that you wish;
about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),
or you can enter any webpage or about: page you want.
This didn't seem to work. I already had set Mozilla as my home page. I typed about:home and nothing happened - no tools, history bookmarks etc at the top Same with about:preferences#general when typed into address bar it simply calls up where I can set the home page etc.
See if this helps;

Sorry it didn't. My problem is perhaps Firefox has changed its design (?). I had the version that had across the top a toolbar that listed things like history, bookmarks, tools etc in drop down lists. Is that still available - the one you referred me to is awful, certainly not an improvement! I can't find how to bookmark a site - which was easy when there was a drop down list under bookmarks. thanks for you help so far Pete

You can find some items like the bookmarks star in the "Page actions" drop-down list (3-dot icon at the right end of the location/address bar). You can right-click an item in the "Page actions" drop-down list to add its button to the location/address bar for easy access.
Thanks for the suggestion. However, I went to the 3 dots drop down but it doesn't show "page actions".
The '...' button on the location bar is the "Page action" button. If you click this button then you see some extra actions listed. You can have items via the right-click context menu of a specific item that show in the drop-down list appear in a container next to the page actions button.
