Sync delete bookmarks

Cyb10101

Hi, i have 2000+ bookmarks. when I sort the bookmarks... in the folder, move out of the folders, and so on I can then find out after a few days, these are my bookmarks away. 2000, 1900, 1700, 1500 bookmarks. at the end there are only empty folders. I have tested this only 5 days. On the first day, were bookmarks away. Luckily I had a backup. Should you even look for it. Tested on Ubuntu 12.04 & Ubuntu 14.04 - Last Firefox (at the time 32).

Hi Cyb10101x, When you go to Bookmarks > Show all bookmarks are they still listed here? Are you only looking in the bookmark toolbar?

If you have the steps to reproduce this and this also happens in a new account, please also check for any errors:

  • How do I turn on sync logs:
  1. Open about:config and turn on: services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess and services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks
  2. Restart Firefox and look at: about:sync-log
  3. Logs and error messages will be located here

Please also use pastebin.mozilla.org for sharring any errors that relate to this issue.

Thank you.

Sorry, I've already deleted all data. After the counted bookmarks were simply deleted, or synchronized wrong. Sync Log unfortunately I have not checked. But I have every time I closed Firefox, pressed a precaution on the Sync button. I was tested for months before, had the same problem. This time I just wanted to mention times.

Hi Cyb10101, Not to worry, thank you for reporting this as it seems to have happened more than once? If this is so, can we check to see what version of sync you are on? Please excuse the basic question, I do believe it was never stated. (If it asks you to pair a device, this will be the old)

The precaution button that you mentioned, what did it say? Or what did it look like if you remember?

Thank you for your help in investigating.

I have previously tested it before times. This time was the second time. If it works, it would be a great feature. Firefox does not act pair. Without pairing...

services.sync.lastversion = 1.15.0 services.sync.tokenServerUI = https://token.services.mozilla.com/1.0/sync/1.5

I also have this error when I change the password of one of my devices. This error will show up when a key pair is not updated. It has to login once more to get a new key:

410915305678 Sync.Service INFO Starting sync at 2014-09-16 17:55:05 1410915305684 Sync.SyncScheduler DEBUG Clearing sync triggers and the global score. 1410915305687 Sync.Status INFO Resetting Status. 1410915305687 Sync.Status DEBUG Status.service: success.status_ok => success.status_ok 1410915305688 Sync.BrowserIDManager INFO Fetching assertion and token from: https://token.services.mozilla.com/1.0/sync/1.5 1410915305688 FirefoxAccounts DEBUG already verified 1410915305696 Sync.BrowserIDManager DEBUG Getting an assertion 1410915305696 FirefoxAccounts DEBUG enter getAssertion() 1410915305705 FirefoxAccounts DEBUG getKeyPair: already have a keyPair 1410915305705 FirefoxAccounts DEBUG getCertificate already had one 1410915305706 FirefoxAccounts DEBUG getAssertionFromCert 1410915305709 FirefoxAccounts DEBUG getAssertionFromCert returning signed: true 1410915305709 Sync.BrowserIDManager DEBUG Getting a token 1410915306024 Sync.BrowserIDManager ERROR Authentication error in _fetchTokenForUser: Authe{......,......} <json information removed>

Are all of the devices on the same version and same account? When you say pair, are you pairing a device or did you get that function call from the logs?

no device pairing. only email and password. Same Firefox (32) version, same Sync 1.5, same Account. Ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu 14.04.

Unfortunately, this is all what I have.
