Whenever I download a file With firefox, no download managers, FireFox WILL freeze at some point during the download. when it freezes it usually stay frozen until the download is finished and the virus checking complete. And no, I don't run it in metro, nor have I done anything with the FireFox files. This have been happening ever since a Vanilla install.

EDIT: This error seem to disappear if I run Internet Explorer at the same time as FireFox...

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"

I forgot to mention that I am using Windows Defender antivirus software. And it happens anytime during the download. (If I am downloading a big file of over a 100 MB the browser might freeze anytime from 2% completion and remains frozen until the file is fully downloaded and will then unfreeze when it reaches 100% and I can see the progress bar on the virus scan moving)
