Cannot open FireFox preferences with Mac OS Lion
Each time I try to open the FireFox application preferences it crashes. Is there a fix?

That's not good. Try resetting Firefox - Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
Did that and it did not work. In fact, right after resetting and re-starting it crashed again straight away. AND it has now forgotten recently added passwords. Any other suggestions apart from reverting to Safari???
Ok if it crashed, let's try looking at the crash report for clues. Use the instructions here to get your latest crash ID. Once you have that, please reply back with the ID.
FireFox crashed when i tried to find info about troubleshooting crashes....
Anyway, it produced an error report and I am not sure I have what you are asking for, but the details in the report were as follows. If that is not what you are after, please tell me how to get the required info, please.

This report also contains technical information about the state of the application when it crashed.
I need the crash ID - it's a long string of characters that starts with "bp-..."
So where do I find this ID?
Use the instructions here. Same ones you used to get the crash report. You just don't have to go that far. Give me the ID and I can look at the report (or have someone else look at it). Thanks.

Oftentimes I do not enter additional info when the crash report window opens, hope that is not a problem...
Thanks!
Oops, I had made a nice list with returns, but that did not work. Sorry for the jumble.

This is better!
Hmm... sorry again. In my own version of the reply the list is nicely separated with return. You can do that by replacing the PM and the AM by PM and AM with a hard return. Easier to read...
Thanks for the info. Are other apps crashing or is the limited to Firefox?
You can also try running in Safe-Mode and see if the crashing persists - How to start Firefox in Safe Mode
Nothing else crashes. It predictably happens when I want to access Firefox's preferences. Other than that Firefox is sort of stable. Will try safe mode tomorrow.
Any new ideas now that you have seen the error IDs? Still cannot get to my preferences without FF crashing....
Does it still crash if you are in Firefox safe mode? Instructions here - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-safe-mode
I restarted Firefox in safemode with addons disabled and then tried to access the prefs. Still crashes. It looks like I have to abandon FireFox and get used to Safari. Ridiculous, whomever's fault this is. If this is what the battle between Apple and Google is doing, I think the consumer is unduly affected and this should be reported because Apple is apparently trying to take over the market. Very disappointed.
