Stop desktop icon from installing after update

I use Firefox frequently as it is the most useful browser I have. I want to keep a clean desktop and do not have icons on my desktop. Every time Firefox updates, it places an icon on my desktop. I do not want it there and delete it. It is very, very annoying to have to delete every time there is an update. How can I keep that from putting it on my desktop? If the thinking is that if it gets put there, I will use it, that will be what keeps me from using it. If I cannot find a way to stop it, I will remove the program altogether and figure out a way to do the things I currently do with Firefox. Please let me know how to accomplish keeping my desktop clean.

If Windows this may help ??

This is a known issue that can happen after some Firefox updates, especially on Windows where shortcuts may get recreated.

To stop Firefox from creating a desktop icon, try these options:

Right-click the Firefox shortcut on your desktop and check if it was created by a shortcut link rather than the installer. If so, deleting it should not bring it back. Check Firefox installer/update settings—sometimes reinstalling Firefox and unchecking “Create desktop shortcut” can help. You can also try changing the shortcut permissions so the installer cannot modify your desktop (advanced users only). As a workaround, you can move the shortcut to the Start Menu or taskbar so even if it reappears, it’s less noticeable.

Hopefully one of these options helps keep your desktop clean without needing to uninstall Firefox.

Thank you for the responses. I am using Windows 11 on both my desktop and laptop for work. This happens on both of them. I will look into the different ideas that both of you posted, thank you. I do keep the icons in the taskbar which is the biggest reason why I do not want them on the desktop. I just want it clean. Thanks again, I will reply if I find something that works.
