Removing google search engine

more options

Google is a suggested search engine, as soon as I move my cursor below the main search bar. I looked up how to remove a suggested search engine: menu->settings->search->check a selected search engine to remove. I followed those steps until I got to the search engine selection; google was NOT a checked search engine. Anybody have ideas I can try? I use win10, with duckduckgo as my default search.

On the Settings page, Search panel, there's first the default search engine setting and then if you scroll down, the Search Shortcuts box. I assume you already selected a different default search engine. In the Search Shortcuts box, "uncheck" Google so it doesn't appear on the drop-down. You also can "remove" Google (it's not completely removed, just hidden a bit more) using the button at the bottom of the Search Shortcuts box.
