As of this morning, I can't "get mail"... I get the "security exception" dialog stating the certificate belongs to a different site (which, it ALWAYS has) and giving me the option to permanently store the exception. Problem is, the exception IS already stored... it's just not WORKING any more. Certificate has NOT changed or expired, as near as I can tell... and this configuration was working for YEARS before this morning.

Common causes for certificate issues are; Anti virus using it's own self signed certificate to run a man in the middle hacking operation on your encrypted communications. Solution: Sort out the Anti virus Self Signed certificates used. Solution: Use commercial certificates or disable oscp verification in options Server security does not offer modern security so TLS version 1 or SSL is used for encryption Solution: upgrade server security TLS security is being used on a server with an incorrect certificate. This is common on chap hosting plans where corners are cut. Solution: use a quality host, or create exceptions for the server. Server does not offer any suitable cyphers for encryption. Solution: upgrade server security.

As you make no mention of the certificate or certifying authority I can really say no more.

I turned off OSCP certification AND disabled Antivirus. The certificate is from dreamhost.com and the certifying authority seems to be Sectigo RSA and or USERTrust RSA. The confusion I have is that the exception appears IN my Thunderbird certificate manager... it's just being ignored. Additionally, it DID work for a short time last night again, but stopped working again this morning!?

Along the lines that Matt suggested, have you tried Windows safe mode?
