URL preview language

Although my Firefox browser is set to english, the URL preview in the bottom left corner is set to German. For example it will say "Warten" instead of "Waiting for" etc. I can't find a way to change this. Does anyone know the solution to this?

Thanks a lot for your comment. I checked and indeed "English (United Kingdom)" is the selected language. The problem also persists in troubleshoot mode. There is however an alternative explanation: I can't remove German from the list of languages that can be selected, which makes me think that it is the currently installed Firefox locale. It seems that that determines the language used in the URL previews no matter to which language the browser is set. The simplest solution is to uninstall Firefox and reinstall the UK or US version.

Hi there,

Can you check the following:

  1. Type about:preferences in the address bar to open the settings panel.
  2. In the "Find in Settings" box, search for "language".
  3. Under "Language", see what language is selected. It should say "English (United States)" or "English (United Kingdom)". If not, change this setting.

If that doesn't help, check if an add-on is causing the problem. Restart Firefox with all add-ons disabled by going to 

    Hamburger Menu > Help > Troubleshoot Mode ...

and check if the problem persists. If not, one of your add-ons is causing the problem.
