Is there an option or extension that I haven't found which would automatically delete browsing history items after existing for a certain time period (e.g. 1 day, 2 weeks, 1 month, etc.)? If not, could one be created?

I know of one extension for that, but I haven't tried it myself and haven't compared with any others:
