You can't click the Save File radio button?

You might try downloading the installer for Firefox, uninstall the currently installed copy, delete any remaining files from C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox or C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox depending on whether you have 64 or 32 bit installed, and then install from the Firefox installer file.

If the above does not help, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Hello a.l.gittings,

Your screenshot shows "Open with RealPlayer (default)".

RealPlayer is a plugin, which you can't use with the current
Firefox version .....

Deleting mimeTypes.rdf will reset all download actions to the default settings. In Firefox v55+, the file name was changed to handlers.json

Type about:support< enter > in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder

Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

Just follow the two middle paragraphs:

Type about:support< enter > in the address bar. Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Look in the now open folder for handlers.json and delete the file. Look also to see if you have mimeTypes.rdf and delete this also, if it exists.

Restart Firefox and attempt the download thing with which you have been having issues.

This screenshot is about opening a file you download in an external application and this doesn't involve a plugin in Firefox. RealPlayer is just a media player like VLC and other media players that can be installed on your computer to play media files locally.

@a.l.gittings

What are you trying to achieve?

Do you want to download and save media files or do you want to play them via a media player installed on your computer ?

Under this find Profile Folder.
To its right press the button Show Folder.

    It doesn't say "Show Folder", but "Open Folder".     (at least on my Windows 10 with the latest Firefox version)
