i had to reset windows 10 and reinstall thunderbird but i lost my contacts, can anyone tell me where they are stored .

They are stored in your profile folder. In windows 120 this is usually in the hidden app data folder.
Depending on what sort of "reset" you did you might find the information in a folder called windows.old. But if it was a full format drive reinstall than you have probably deleted the information. Windows makes it very easy to fix your issue, as long as you store no data on your local computer. In that case it makes it very simple to bankrupt your business and loose all your tax information in a couple of clicks.

The address books are stored in the profile folder as MAB files. This addon will allow you to import those mab files https://freeshell.de//~kaosmos/morecols-en.html

I suppose you used windows search to fail to locate the files. It hides more than it actually shows. Great search system... NOT
