I have adblock plus but I can't access it to change preferences, and can't find it in the system.

I've had adblock plus forever. Last night it quit on me. I reinstalled, and the add-on page shows that I have it, but I can't find an icon to click on, that would allow me to go to preferences in adblock plus. I'm suddenly inundated with ads! What can I do??

Hi, what happens when you start in : SAFE MODE

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Performance > Uncheck to view)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

TEST''''is issue still there ?

I cannot execute this maneuver. Where is my icon? I have downloaded the program and it is in my add-on manager but I can't go from there to my preferences.

Do not understand about Safe Mode. It's confusing and I don't see what it will do for me.

Would you please take a look at this article (scroll down to 'Firefox') :

Fingers crossed that you'll find the icon in Customize .....

It's not in Customize. The "add-ons" icon is there, and when I click it I go to the add-ons manager, which shows Adblock installed. However, there is nothing I can click or drag there to get to Adblock Preferences, and get rid of the (perhaps "appropriate"?) ads that have just started showing up.

Adblock Plus support is over here: http://adblockplus.org/forum/

I can't help you as I haven't used Adblock Plus for over two years now. I prefer and use uBlock Origin, for a few reasons.
