Sent emails populating my inbox

I had to, unfortunately, 'reset' my pc, necessitating a re-downloading of Tbird. I cannot get it to behave the way it did.

  1. 1..can't delete certain folders. I have 2 email addresses and want only an inbox, junk, spam, sent, archive, and trash. I have no use for any others, they just create work where I must delete or move emails. I am using gmail accounts.
  1. 2..Why are my SENT emails showing up in my INBOX???? How do I stop this?

thanks

I think the answer to (1) is: - right click on the account showing in the account list at the left of your Thunderbird window - select 'subscribe' - untick all the folders you do not want displayed I think you may have to click 'refresh' after that, or close TBird and restart it or something ... I can't quite remember. Because gmail is an IMAP service, any folders that you subscribe to are maintained both on the Google server and in your TBird: that's probably why you can't delete them at the moment. I have no answer to (2), sorry, it's not behaviour that I've encountered. If you get (1) solved, you may want to ask (2) again on this forum as a separate thread.
