A pop up window says the site (imap.shaw.ca:143 ) is a fraud that no legitimate site will use this address yet it is the one Shaw has asked me to use???? This pop up for "imap.shaw.ca:143 " your system wants me to add as a security exception saying "This site attempts to identify itself with invalid information" However when I click on the "confirm Security Exception" or "cancel" it pops up again asking the same thing over and over again until Thunderbird crashes!!! I have clicked on the two choices as many as 100 times before the crash but it still pops up over and over until the crash happens!!! It also will not allow me to keep a copy of the email being sent and also it seems to want to crash emails as I am writing them. It says its unable to save the email as a Draft. I have used Thunderbird for almost 15 years and nothing like this has ever occurred until I upgraded to 38.4.0 Is this a new issue or just the first time I have encountered it??? Note this is on my PC I have not noticed this issue on my Mac but I have not upgraded the mac as its an older machine ( 2007 ) It does not appear on my Iphone as an issue either!

There can be plenty of reasons why you do get the exception prompt. In worst case you'd be connected to a malicious server. Having that in mind, your asking the wrong question. You shouldn't desperately trying to get rid of the exception prompt by trying to create an exception. Instead you need to understand why you do get the exception prompt. The reason is given with the exception prompt window. Please post a screenshot of that window. http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem

Note I have contacted my email service provider and they confirmed that they use Zimbra as their official email source and that they have had issues with people who use Thunderbird. It seems your program is not aware that Zimbra is an acceptable program. Their suggestion was to drop thunderbird and try a real email program. As shaw.ca has several thousand customers I would think your program would have something built in to make it see that shaw.ca is a proper address!!!!!! And that your program should be aware that Shaw uses Zimbra as its mail system!!

Please help me get this program working properly as I need to be able to recover and read emails from my lawyer that I have stored in your program!

It seems your program is not aware that Zimbra is an acceptable program.

It doesn't matter what server software a provider uses. It's more likely they screwed up their server configuration and now blame Thunderbird.

Their suggestion was to drop thunderbird and try a real email program.

Up to you.

As shaw.ca has several thousand customers I would think your program would have something built in to make it see that shaw.ca is a proper address!!!!!!

Assuming just a fraction of the shaw.ca customers would be using Thunderbird, this forum should be flooded with complaints. But it isn't.

Please help me get this program working properly
