Just updated from windows 7 to windows 10 home premium.

Every time I close Firefox I get on screen warnings "Virus Protection" and "Spyware and unwanted software protection" and the audible warning.

Double clicking the message brings up a box that tells me both Norton Internet Security and Windows defender are Off.

Norton is pretty sure that it is still ON and working. Windows defender however is telling me Real-time protection is indeed OFF and that Virus and spyware definitions are "Out of date" (They aren't out of date). The settings tab however tells me that Real-time protection is still ON. (I will try to include pictures although this is currently proving to be problematic.)

Restarting Windows Defender works and everything is OK until the next time I close Firefox when yet again I get the warnings.

I have run various spyware and malware checkers as well as a virus scan. Everything comes up clean.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi

I do not think this is so much a Firefox problem, but one caused by running two anti-malware packages (Windows Defender & Norton Internet Security) at the same time. Regardless of the names, running two at the same time tends to causes conflicts and problems.

Whilst I am not in a position to recommend which of the two you should keep, it would be prudent to consider the costs that may have been paid for a Norton subscription that may have some time left to run.

I hope this helps, but if not please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.
